Plymovent complies with NEW ISO 21904 standards
Plymovent is fully prepared to accommodate the key features of this new ISO 21904 standard.
Recently Plymovent received the renowned TÜV SÜD certification. To get this TÜV SÜD certificate several Plymovent systems were tested for safety and the production locations were monitored in Troisdorf (Germany) and Lamphun (Thailand). This shows that our products adhere to high-quality standards and have a proven track record in the challenging industry of exhaust extraction systems and products. In this article, we will explain what TÜV and TÜV SÜD are and why getting TÜV SÜD certified matters. We will also take a quick look at the Plymovent products that received this prestigious certification.
TÜV SÜD’s story started well over a century ago—in 1866, to be precise. A fatal accident gave rise to an enduring legacy and spawned a global industry. Since then, TÜV SÜD has become a trusted partner of choice when it comes to safety, security and sustainability.
Anticipating technological developments, facilitating change, defining standards, and going beyond regulatory compliance. Those are the key values and goals that sum up the mission of TÜV SÜD. Staying true to its founding principle, the organization adds value to the world of tech and society as a whole by creating a safer and more sustainable future. TÜV SÜD is the trusted partner of choice for safety, security and sustainability solutions that add tangible value in the physical and digital world.
TÜV SÜD performs sovereign tasks in the fields of vehicle monitoring, driver licensing and equipment, and product safety. In addition, TÜV SÜD also functions as a notified body in Europe for medical device regulation.
In addition to TÜV SÜD, other TÜV organisations have grown out of the historic TÜV brand - such as TÜV Nord, TÜV Austria, TÜV Saarland, TÜV Rheinland, TÜV Hessen and TÜV Thüringen. TÜV SÜD, headquartered in Munich, today has 25,000 employees and more than 1,000 locations in Germany, Europe, America and Asia. Around 43 percent of sales are generated abroad.
Now that we know what TÜV SÜD is and what the company stands for, it’s time to focus on the Plymovent vehicle exhaust extraction systems and products that recently received the TÜV SÜD certification.
For Plymovent safety, security and sustainability are key. That is the reason why we work together with TÜV SÜD already for a long time. As a global supplier it’s important that TÜV SÜD’s certification has an accreditation in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.
Plymovent’s Sliding Balancer Track Pneumatic (SBTP) and Slider Balancer Track Magnetic (SBTM) have set the standard for exhaust extraction on fire and emergency vehicles around the world. The SBT exhaust extraction systems are designed to connect to any motor vehicle tailpipe, capturing virtually 100% of all exhaust emissions.
The systems are predominantly used in single and back-in garage applications. The pneumatically (SBTP) and magnetically (SBTM) geared systems are fully automatic, from the fan activation to the automatic release from the vehicle. There is a one-step connection to the exhaust extraction system as the vehicle enters a garage.
The following features make Plymovent’s SBT systems an ideal fit for back-in garage applications:
Our highly acclaimed and now TÜV SÜD-certified Straight Rails (STRP and STRM) are designed for drive-through applications with up to four vehicles parked in tandem. The STR system is designed to connect to any motor vehicle tailpipe and captures virtually 100 percent of the exhaust emissions. The Straight Rail system (STR) has set the standard for vehicle emission control for fire and emergency response vehicles around the world, using either the magnetic (STRM) or pneumatic grabber® (STRP).
The system allows for a door-to-door removal of harmful emissions and is equipped with exciting and highly valuable features, such as a speed-absorbing shock system, a front and rear door release, expendable design, and adjustable release points (depending on the vehicle speed). This is an ideal fit if you want an exhaust removal system that is easy to use and ensures effective and efficient exhaust gas removal for multiple vehicles in a line.
Plymovent’s Mini Rail Profile (MRPP and MRPM) is an exhaust extraction system tailored to emergency service stations and other facilities with confined spaces and/or low ceilings. The MRP operates in a fully automatic fashion, from the fan activation to the automatic nozzle release from the exiting vehicle. This system is easy to use since it requires only a one-step connection to the system as the vehicle enters the facility.
The Vertical Stack Rail (VSR) system is the ideal solution for vehicles that have a top exhaust and need to move through a garage or station. With no one else but the driver the V-shaped catcher guides the vehicle tailpipe into the rail profile.
The rail profile is a system that allows side-to-side movement of the entire system and automatically aligns itself with the vehicle tailpipe. The Vertical Stack Rail (VSR) is the ideal solution for heavy-duty vehicles that move through a truck garage and (airport) fire station.
Our highly acclaimed high volume external crab and now TÜV SÜD-certified Rail systems (VSRXP and VSRXM) are designed for drive-through and back in applications with up to four vehicles parked in tandem. The VSRX system is designed to connect to any motor vehicle tailpipe and captures virtually 100 percent of the exhaust emissions. This Rail system has set the standard for vehicle emission control for fire and emergency response vehicles around the world, using either the magnetic (VSRXM) or pneumatic grabber (VSRXP).
The system allows for a door-to-door removal of harmful emissions and is equipped with exciting and highly valuable features, such as a speed-absorbing shock system, a front and rear door release, expendable design, and adjustable release points (depending on the vehicle speed). This is an ideal fit if you want an exhaust removal system that is easy to use and ensures effective and efficient diesel exhaust gas removal for multiple vehicles in a line.
But why is it so important to have a product that is TÜV SÜD certified? Such a certification means a sampling of the product has been tested for safety and found to meet the minimum requirements of the German Product Safety Act. The certification mark enables you to demonstrate to the outside world that quality, safety and high industry standards are integral parts of your company’s DNA.
It is a mark of distinction that also serves as an excellent marketing tool, enhancing the value of your brand and inspiring greater confidence among your business partners and end-users. TÜV SÜD-certified products are rigorously tested and can be universally distinguished by consumers and traders.
Once you have the TÜV SÜD certification, it is important to keep this mark of quality. It shows that quality control and continuous improvement are integral parts of your business processes and product development.
If Plymovent wants to remain TÜV SÜD certified in the long run, recertification audits are required every year. Changes to the systems needs to be reported to TÜV SÜD with the appropriate documentation describing those changes. Passing the recertification audit ensures continued TÜV SÜD certification.
For you, as an end-user it’s also important to maintain the TÜV SÜD certified Plymovent solutions. Please have your Plymovent office or authorized dealer maintain your systems annually.
